One Step at a Time

One Step at a Time

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

If you are a Christian, you’ve probably heard that the Christian life is a marathon, not a sprint. A marathon is not won in a few quick moments—it requires endurance, perseverance, and steady progress. In the same way, following Christ is a lifelong journey. If we treat our faith like a short race, we can easily burn out and lose strength for the journey ahead.

Today’s verse reminds us that we are called to walk by faith, not rush ahead by sight. Walking is slow but consistent. It is one step at a time, trusting God even when we cannot see the entire path before us. Faith does not eliminate uncertainty, but it gives us confidence in the One who leads us.

As we walk with God, we should also lay aside any baggage—fear, worry, bitterness, pride, or anything else that hinders our spiritual growth. When we release these burdens into God’s hands, we are free to move forward with greater peace and endurance. The things we see around us are temporary, but God’s promises and His kingdom are eternal. Rather than becoming distracted by our circumstances, we fix our eyes on the unseen reality of God’s faithfulness.

Our faith is not in ourselves but in the Lord. He is unchanging, faithful, and always works for the good of those who love Him. Every new day is a gift from Him, a new opportunity to trust His leading. Abraham, the father of faith, is a powerful example of this kind of trust. He obeyed God’s call without knowing every detail of the journey ahead. Likewise, we are invited to take one day at a time, moving forward with peace, hope, and confidence that God is already preparing the way before us.

Let’s Pray:

Dear Lord, thank you for walking with us every day. We are grateful that we never have to face life’s journey alone because You are always with us. Help us to walk by faith and not by sight. Help us to lay down every burden that keeps us stagnated. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
