But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith….. 1 Timothy 6: 11-12 [NIV]
This verse pretty much sums up the narrow path for Christians. As children of God, our options are limited because we align our ways with God’s will. God’s will and way of life is very slow-paced, and he works everything for our good in His own time.
In this scripture, Paul instructs Timothy to continue in God’s ways. He uses dynamic words rather than weak or passive ones, such as “flee, pursue, endure and fight,” to name a few. Our discipline and obedience should match these words to overcome the evil in this world and our lives. When I say “evil,” the first thing people associate with is something terrible and wicked. However, in simple terms, evil can also be disobedience to God’s ways and will.
As Christians, we should align with God’s standards and ways. Fighting the good fight of faith means adhering to God’s will and living according to not only His ways but also His timing. Therefore, we take a stand and resist external pressure to impress others or to run ahead of God’s timing. We fight the temptation of doing life our own way and making wrong choices, which eventually lead to delays and damage.
My child, take your stand today and fight the good fight of faith. Wait on God’s timing and overcome whatever you are going through, either frustration or weariness. Fight those thoughts and feelings that don’t align with God’s will. God Bless!
Let’s Pray:
Dear Lord, thank you for instructing us this morning to continue our race. We choose to abide in your will, be patient, and pursue righteousness. Give us the strength to fight the good fight of faith and please you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
