Rest!

Rest!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

                                                                                                                 Matthew 11: 28- 30 [NIV]

Rest is crucial for every believer. Striving leads to discouragement and doubt in God as we put all the burden on ourselves to obtain something. Strong determination is important to a certain extent, but it is vain when we don’t bring God’s hand into our tasks. As believers, we have the privilege of God carrying our burdens, and we don’t have to do life alone. We surrender our burdens to God in prayer and wait on Him to work out a solution for us.

Andrew Murray says, “We may rest assured that He who made us for Himself, that He might give Himself to us and in us, that he will never disappoint us.” God will never disappoint us as he is faithful in caring for His sheep. He knows our needs and their urgency. He is seated on the throne and is in control.

The Bible reminds us that even the sparrows know that the Lord holds our tomorrow. Then how much more confident should we be, who are created in the image of God, to put our trust in the Almighty? So today, let’s lay our burdens down. Submit your cares to God, and he will take care of your life.

When we become anxious and worry about our cares, it puts pressure on our physical health, family life, relationships and more. The scripture reminds us that God is gentle and humble. There is no greater freedom than carrying His yoke of peace and rest instead of the yoke of worldly burdens. Today, take your stand and lay down your burdens. Rest in the Lord!

Let’s Pray:

Dear Lord, thank you for reminding us that your yoke is easy and your burden is light. We won’t give in to worry and anxiety but rest in you. I pray that you answer the needs of your children, whether it is employment, housing, health issues, or relational disturbances. May your grace abide in them. May you turn their situations around for their good and your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
